Strawberry Summer Brunch Ideas & Recipes

June 8, 2021

Confession: I’m a strawberry elitist. Although to be fair, it’s not just strawberries. I can be fairly picky about where all my fresh produce comes from. Sure, eating local is super important for reasons like health, the environment, and supporting the local economy. But for me, when it comes to strawberries, it’s all about the taste. So why not celebrate the season with a themed summer brunch. Here are some ideas for decorating and, of course, some menus.

Local strawberries just taste better than those shipped: they are softer, and sweeter, and juicier. In fact, I’ve gotten to the point where I won’t even buy strawberries out of season at all. The only berries I buy that aren’t Upstate New York local are the ones from Florida throughout the winter.

How to Find Local Strawberries

First, figure out when it’s strawberry season. On the east coast, the season begins in Florida in February, and works its way up the coast until we start to get our berries here in June. Then check local grocery stores and farm markets.

One of my favorite ways to be sure I am getting the best and freshest berries is to pick them myself. If you have local farms, many offer pick-your-own during strawberry season. Check out this guide to find a you-pick farm in your area.

Decorating a Strawberry Brunch

Theming a brunch around a seasonal fruit makes it super easy when it comes to both planning the menu and decorating. You can easily find plenty of cute and handmade strawberry tablescaping items to use when hosting. Here are a few to get you started:

  1. I love strawberry season! We just got some from the grocery store last night. I’m also planning a visit to the farmer’s market this weekend. I also may have just saved about 10 of these recipes haha, they all sound so good!
