Life and Blog Update for 2022
October 25, 2022
Hi everyone. This blog post is a little different from most of mine, because it’s not a recipe or a guide or a love letter to whatever in-season fruit I am currently obsessing over (apples, it’s apples. I just tried a new-to-me variety, Rubinette, and oh, my goodness). But I am here with a little bit of an update about what you can expect here over the next couple months.
PS: Enjoy these lovely photos of some Catskills waterfalls!
Essentially, I need a short break. But Slumber & Scones isn’t going anywhere. The site itself is staying live, and you can continue to use it to find, make, remake and love all your favorite indulgent and decadent recipes.
However, new posts will be a little less frequent. I have been posting every Tuesday and Thursday for a couple years now without a single break. Not for holidays, illnesses, vacations, or anything else, and I think I need a little bit of time to detach from such heavy recipe development.
In the end, I’m hoping this will be a refresh for my creative mind. Coming up with new ideas every single week is so much fun for me, but actually executing these is a struggle.
I have been maintaining a full time job, wielding two rambunctious chihuahuas, keeping up with my own mental and physical health, trying to have some hobbies that are just for me, and potentially having the semblance of a social life, in addition to running this blog almost entirely on my own.
So I plan to read some books, do some coloring, solve logic puzzles, and of course – still spend some time in the kitchen experimenting over the holidays! But instead of trying to churn out a sparkling new recipe every week, they may come a little less often. Quality over quantity, right?
Here’s some questions you might have, and I’ll do my best to answer them.
So is this a hiatus?
Of sorts. I am no longer guaranteeing a new post each week on Tuesday and Thursday. I will continue to post recipes, guides, and more when I think they will provide you with real value. If I come up with something I love, you will still get the recipe.
I am also not abandoning the blog at all. Hopefully, I’ll be able to use some of the extra time to focus on pieces of it that have taken a backseat to recipe development and writing. Things like social media and interacting with all of you over on those platforms in a more organic way.

How long will it last?
My goal is to allow myself some space over the next two months, so I’m planning to take a casual break for the remainder of 2022. In January, I want to reevaluate my posting calendar, and make sure that it makes sense for my life, but most importantly for all of you.
What does this mean for monthly emails?
There are only two of them coming up that are covered in this time frame, November and December. I do plan on still sending you all something fun for both of those. It is the holidays, after all.
What should I make in the meantime?
You can use the Flavors page to find any Slumber & Scones recipe by your favorite ingredients. Start there if you have something special in mind. Or, take a look at the Welcome page for a list of some of my personal favorite recipes from the site.
