What You Need to Get Started

You can easily find all of the ingredients for these mocha overnight oats at your grocery store:

Now, let’s hear from Lynn!

Mornings are a blur for me. I love my sleep so I tend to want to hit snooze to the very last minute. This is why overnight oats have helped me so much!

When I was in post-secondary, I rarely ate breakfast, I was always on the go and usually ate my first meal in the afternoon. Eating so late caused me to overeat and binge on really unhealthy foods.

I couldn’t get myself to make hot oatmeal every day but with overnight oats, I can prepare them at the beginning of the week and customize it however I liked! Fast forward to years later and I’ve made so many different recipes for overnight oats and I’m sharing my favourite recipe with you today!

Do you like overnight oats? What’s your favourite way to eat them?

How to Make Café Mocha Overnight Oats

Where can I find these ingredients?

Everything in this cafe mocha overnight oats recipe can be found at your local grocery store! You can find rolled oats, coffee extract, cocoa powder and maple syrup in the pantry section of your grocery store. You can find your oat milk and greek yogurt in the dairy section of your grocery store.

If some of the pantry section items aren’t available, you can always purchase these ingredients from Amazon or any online platform that sells groceries!

What equipment do I need?

This café mocha overnight oats recipe is meant to be meal prepped for the week so you’ll need some containers or mason jars for them. I’ve seen loads of people just divide the recipe by 4 and mix each of them in the mason jar but I love just making the recipe in a big bowl and pouring them in containers before keeping them in the fridge. Other than the containers or jars for the overnight oats, you’ll just need some measuring cups and spoons and a spatula.

What are the steps to prepare?

The steps and time breakdown to prepare this recipe are:

  1. Measure and Prepare – all the ingredients into one bowl
    Time: 5 Minutes
  2. Pour – the overnight oats and portion into each container
    Time: 8 Minutes
  3. Chill – in the fridge for the oats to absorb the liquid and soften
Time: Minimally 8 hours and up to 4 days

What are good substitutes or additions?

As this is a fairly easy recipe, you are free to add or substitute ingredients as you please. I use coffee extract for my recipe but you can use a shot or two of strong espresso or even decaf espresso if you’d like!

You can also add in some chocolate chunks or chips or sauce as I don’t add any to mine!

What does it taste like?

Café mocha overnight oats is an awesome recipe if you have a sweet tooth! I actually don’t have a sweet tooth so I use unsweetened oat milk and plain greek yogurt. It tastes like espresso coffee and chocolate together, and is soft and creamy and so filling. It tastes like the perfect mocha dessert-like breakfast!

How long does it keep for?

I usually make my overnight oats on Sunday evening and make 4 for the week. On Fridays, I usually get breakfast out or make something new! Store in the fridge in your containers and do not open it until you eat it. Store for up to 4 days.

Make sure you keep track of the expiration of your dairy products so you don’t end up with spoiled overnight oats.
