I’m excited about today’s post, because I get the chance to feature a recipe of a fellow blogger. Lisa Goodwin, from 2 Share My Joy is all about plant-based eating, and doing it in a healthy way. I’ve been focusing on doing a better job with that myself. It’s fun to learn about recipes like this one, that sound so decadent, but are actually made with healthy and delicious ingredients. I’m happy to share with you her recipe for a black forest cake smoothie.

Plant Powered Health

First, this book, Plant Powered Health by Lisa Goodwin teaches you how to eat a healthy vegan diet. I’ve been trying to incorporate more plant-based food into my own habits, and it’s so important to learn how to do it in a healthy way. When you read the full book, you’ll learn a ton, like: how to get all of your nutrients while eating vegan and how to transition to a plant-based diet without side effects.

And then there are the recipes. The book contains 48 full vegan recipes, many of which are gluten free and/or oil free, or can be adjusted to be. The recipes are practical too — simple and budget friendly. Plus, there are meal plans, guides, and more.

Black Forest Cake Smoothies

I found this recipe to be very quick and easy to make. I have been eating a lot of smoothies for breakfasts lately, and I was anticipating this one for days before I whipped it up. As a chocolate lover, I was interested to see how the cherries lent their flavor. Plus, I’d never added chia seeds to a smoothie before.

The recipe calls for a few ingredients that may have different sources, so I’ll break down how I put it all together. For the cherries, I used frozen, pitted cherries, and I used Hershey’s dutch-processed cocoa powder. I added a little bit of shredded coconut on top for some extra texture as well.
